This vintage pattern is for a 1950s pillbox hat with three different trim designs for three completely different looks. You can dress this hat up or down depending on your taste. A crisp white hat studded with rhinestones, velveteen in fruit colors with rick rack trim or dark velvet with a decorate heart -- the choice is yours! This hat would make a perfect beginner project if you're just starting out in millinery.

This pattern is for a medium headsize (about 22") and is meant to fit snug around the brim. The instructions call for a compass to make the semi-circle for the hat, but you can use a simple piece of cardboard cut to the length listed in the pattern instructions and a pencil to achieve the same effect (or any device that will give you a half circle with proper measurements). The pattern uses a combination of two pattern pieces and a cutting chart to complete the pillbox.
