Haslam System of Dresscutting -- Vintage Pattern Making for 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s Fashions (Haslam Chart and Foundation Draftings)
by Bramcost Publications and G.A. Haslam

{softcover, 41 pages, 8.5x11, 2010, ISBN: 1936049368}

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Haslam Dresscutting System consists of three major components needed to complete any of the Haslam vintage patterns:
(1) Books of Draftings (found in our Sewing category)
(2) Foundation Drafting Book
(3) Haslam Chart
This book contains the Haslam Chart and three Foundation Drafting books -- one for the early-mid 1940s fashions, one for mid-late 1940s fashions and Foundation Book 2 used mainly in combination with the mid-late 1940s and 1950s Books of Draftings.
Foundation Drafting Books
The 1920s and 1930s Haslam Books of Draftings already contain the foundation pattern instructions within the book's pages and only the Haslam Chart is needed to size and complete the patterns.
The 1940s-1950s Haslam Books of Draftings require the use of a separate Foundation Drafting Book containing the foundation drafting instructions that are the base pattern for all Haslam designs. The Foundation Drafting Books provide instructions on how to measure for your foundation pattern, how to make accommodations for different body types and very detailed instructions for using the Haslam Chart to create your foundation pattern.
This book contains all three Foundation Drafting Books and the Haslam Chart (which requires assembly).
    Haslam Chart
    Similar to a dressmaking/tailor's square, the Haslam Chart is an easy-to-use template of strategically placed holes, curves, lines and measurements that will enable you to make the vintage Haslam fashion patterns customized to your body’s measurements based on the instructions provided in the Foundation Drafting Book and the over 80 Books of Draftings in the Haslam System (Books of Draftings can be found under our Sewing category).
    Instructions are provided for assembling the template, which measures approximately 11 inches high x 17 inches wide. Using simple supplies -- glue, tape, scissors and lightweight cardboard or heavy cardstock -- four steps complete the assembly of the front side of the Curve, four steps complete the back side of the Curve and five steps complete the adhering of the front side to the back side. Cutting and matchup lines are clearly marked on each page in bright pink and blue (please see images). Assembly takes approximately 45-60 minutes once supplies are gathered.
    This book is a perfect tool for creating the hard-to-find Haslam Curve and will provide you with a full color, clean, clear, crisp drafting Curve for your Haslam patterns. The Foundation Drafting Books -- imperative for all Haslam patterns -- will guide you along step-by-step in creating your foundation pattern, the "base" pattern used to create the pattern designs in any Haslam Book of Draftings.
